EASY Baby Manual

Please ensure you read the instructions before use.

Here are some tips to help put babies on an EASY BABY Day schedule:

  1. Try to put your baby to bed at the same time every night and wake them up at the same time every morning. This will help regulate their internal body clock and establish a routine.
  2. A consistent bedtime routine can help signal to your baby that it’s time to wind down and prepare for sleep. This might include activities such as reading a book, speaking softly, playing gentle music, giving the baby a warm bath at night, dimming the lights in the room, or using an ember light.
  3. A thoughtfully crafted EASY BABY daily schedule will provide you with specific times for when the baby needs to go to sleep and be awakened. Pay attention to your baby’s sleep cues and try to put them down for a nap before they become overtired. Sleep cue signs include yawning and rubbing eyes, as well as other not-so-obvious cues such as general fussiness, a slowing in activity levels, and not maintaining eye contact.
  4. Every baby is different, so pay attention to your baby’s cues and signals. This can help you understand their individual needs and adjust the EASY BABY schedule accordingly (by 10 to 15 minutes, but every waking time should not be adjusted).
  5. Engage your baby in regular daytime activities, such as tummy time, playtime, and outings (when appropriate for their age). The EASY BABY Day schedule can help create a rhythm for the day and provide mental and physical stimulation for your baby.
  6. While it’s important to establish a routine, it’s also important to be flexible and responsive to your baby’s needs. Babies’ sleep and feeding patterns can change as they grow, so be prepared to adjust the schedule as necessary using our EASY BABY age-appropriate day schedule (4 weeks to 8 weeks, 8 weeks to 3 months, 3 months to 6 months, 6 months to 8 months). After 8 months, a baby’s needs become more individualized. At this age, infants start to develop unique preferences, personalities, and developmental milestones, leading to differing needs in areas like nutrition, sleep, and social interaction.
  7. If the baby wakes up earlier than expected, allow them to fuss for a little while, as they may go back to sleep. If they do not, try leaving the baby in the crib and using a pacifier to calm them or just let them entertain themselves (turn on the crib mobile device). If the baby cries, take them out of the room, but avoid overstimulating them.

Remember that it may take some time for your baby to adjust to a new schedule, so be patient and consistent as you work to establish a routine.

The CDC provides guidelines to promote safe sleep practices for babies:

  1. Always place babies on their backs for every sleep time, including naps and at night.
  2. Use a firm sleep surface, such as a safety-approved crib mattress covered by a fitted sheet.
  3. Keep the crib empty. Keep soft objects, including pillows, bumpers, blankets, and toys, out of the baby’s sleep area to reduce the risk of suffocation.
  4. Share the same room as the baby, but not the same bed, for at least the first year of life.
  5. Ensure that the baby does not get too hot during sleep by using lightweight sleep clothing and keeping the room at a comfortable temperature.
  6. Make sure the baby is never left alone for an extended period of time.

It’s important for parents and caregivers to be aware of and follow these recommendations to promote the safety and well-being of their babies. To learn more about safe sleep guidance, please visit: https://www.cdc.gov.
